Swanage is a holiday resort for all seasons. Situated at the start of the Jurassic Coast on the Isle of Purbeck, Swanage offers a host of activities and opportunities to have an enjoyable and relaxing vacation.

Swanage Beach is a blue flag awarded sandy beach, with a lifeguard service that makes it ideal for families. The gentle sloping golden sands lead to the waters edge, which is known for its cleanliness. There is beach hut hire for your convenience, and you can  spend the day paddling, collecting seashells and building sandcastles with your little ones. If you’re looking for something more adventurous, Swanage is a popular diving spot, with scuba diving and sea fishing available to those who want to try it.

For other activities, Durlston Castle and Country Park is a 30min walk or short drive away from the Town Centre. The castle is a stunning Victorian building with regular events and exhibitions. The views from the park make it an excellent place to take a long walk along one of the nature trails, and you’ll notice the vibrant flora and fauna around you.

Train enthusiasts will want to check out the Swanage Railway, with steam trains that run through the beautiful Purbeck countryside and past Corfe Castle to the sandy beach of Swanage.

For food, Swanage has a great range of restaurants, tea rooms, pubs, and bistros, serving fresh local seafood, homemade ice-cream, fudge, and other treats. For places to stay there is a good variety of hotels, B&Bs, self catered accommodation, and plenty of camping and caravan sites.
